The Flixton Manwolf

I wrote this back in October of this year, in 2014. This piece of work talks about the Dogman of Flixton which has been nicknamed The Flixton Werewolf by many people out there today.

I have mentioned many a times in the past about the Flixton Werewolf. But now thought I would write bit more on this creature and what it could possibly be.

Well to start off with Flixton is a small village (and I mean small). It is about 5 miles south of Scarborough on the North Yorkshire coast, In a valley between the hills of the Yorkshire Wolds to the south and the edge of the North York moors a few miles to the north. Today it’s a quite desolate landscape, swampy and open, but long ago it was a dense forest with a large lake. It must have been quite a wild, remote spot in the 10th century when the
Flixton werewolf was first reported terrorizing the local countryside.

There is no way of knowing now just how far back the Flixton werewolf tales go, but in the year 940 the situation was such that a hostel was built in Flixton specifically for the protection of travelers. The werewolf had reportedly attacked sheep and local people as well as travelers. The winters at that time were particularly cruel in northern Britain and food was scarce. Freshly buried corpses were dug up and devoured, and anyone out after dark was risking being attacked. The Flixton werewolf became quite notorious at this time.

However, the reports then stopped, and he doesn't seem to have been reported again for a couple of hundred years or so, when around 1150 (ish) the reports began again. It, (even assuming it was the same, very old, creature), devoured a local shepherd and a young girl, as well as farm animals. This werewolf walked upright, was incredibly stinky, had a particularly long tail and ferocious looking eyes. Then all seems to have gone quiet again for about 600 years.

Sometime around 1800 a carriage travelling to York was attacked just outside Flixton by a huge wolf like creature who first attacked the driver and then the occupants of the carriage, one of whom shot the creature, but the creature remained unharmed. It has to be remembered that wolves had been pretty well eradicated from this area by that time, and a solitary wolf would have to be pretty desperate to attack a carriage full of people.
Then again much more recently, in the 1970's, local reports say a truck was attacked when a huge wolf like creature jumped on the front and tried to bash its way through the windscreen, so whatever it is it certainly hasn't gone away.

Another point of interest is that Flixton is the site of Star Carr, a neolithic lake village which dates back to the end of the last ice age and so is the first known site to be occupied after the glaciers retreated about 11, 000 years ago. This gives the place a very ancient history indeed and is a perfect place for stories and legends to grow, and although the oldest reports of the werewolf at Flixton date back over a thousand years, who knows whether people were telling tales of strange creatures here many thousands of years before that, way back in the mists of time.

Though one thing I can say is that this very creature is still around today, stalking anybody who travels through it's territory in the nearby area. Just like the past though reports disappear and then years later come flooding back in. Does it hibernate or simply do people experience this creature and do not report their encounter.
Another theory is this could be Paranormal but what about the solid evidence. I'm in talks with somebody who was able to find some prints near the village of Flixton. Now I'm not an expert but to me they do seem to look like some large canine footprint. As well as this I have spoke to a witness who saw a humanoid wolf like creature (Dogman) at North Yorkshire Moors - the Flixton Werewolf?

Is this an ancient paranormal beast that has been seen since the beginning of time at Flixton & the North Yorkshire Moors or is it a flesh and blood creature? Could there be a community of these creatures thriving and hunting in these areas and will we ever get the concrete proof that we need that a canine humanoid is really living in our wilderness?

The Deep Gill Woods Dogman - North York Moors National Park

Around 2 weeks ago today (week commencing 15/12/14) A eyewitness who has asked to remain annoymous believes that he and his friend who had joined him for a woodland walk had been the victims from a possible Dogman Encounter. They were travelling through a large forest valley in the North Yorkshire Moors very near to The Deep Gill Woods when their experience happened on that day, an experience they have never had before.

They had been walking around the Peaks & Woods for few hours, having no problems, as they travelled onto a different peek with a very large forest surrounding them they suddenly got a strange and eerie feeling. They had only entered that area for maybe an hour before things didn't feel right to them. "Sounds Crazy But It Just Felt Creepy!" the witness said.

They never saw anything but this creature was there watching them. They could feel it's eyes on them, it stalked them/followed them, as they moved they would hear twigs break in the background. The sounds this creature made were sounds that the friends had never heard before in their lifetime. They had been to that forest for a couple of years now and they have never seen, heard anything like that before. The Witness has told me since the experience that fellow people have either shrugged it off as them messing around or being delusional.

When it drove them out of the woods it was around half past 5 or possibly 6pm, they knew they were losing light fast. They had heard a eerie howl/growl several hours before on top of a peek but never gave it much notice as it was so far away. When they heard it again a second time, it sounded like it got closer to them (possibly 50 - 60 yards away) and they felt the sound as if it went straight through them.

The howl/growl for them resembled the American Werewolf in London (high pitched) but then a rumbling at the end. Pure fear like frozen! The witness's brain was panicking, his body felt like it wasn't going to move. Then you could hear it walking along breaking branches and twigs as it went by, hitting and pushing by/through trees and bushes.

Him and his friend both got the impression that whatever it was it wanted them gone asap and it was making sure they didn't take long getting out of the woods.

They started to make their way out of the forest not knowing what could make noises like that, then all they could hear was it moving along with them/following them, snapping and breaking branches, twigs and bashing things around. His friend was scared as was he so they picked up their pace and ran all the way to their car.

After that whole incident the eye witness researched on what it could have possibly been, the weird dog-like howl, which make him believe that it might have been a dogman, plus the growl too. Sounded too canine to the witness. He has looked into both subjects of Bigfoot & Dogman, researching them all he can but he doesn't believe that it was a Bigfoot. Still freaks him and his friend out til this day and it has only been 2 short weeks. Before all this he thought they were just stories and myths.

One further note he was able to make - He tried talking to local people around the area about what happened but the nearest bit of info he got was that supposedly 20 years ago something got shot dead but during this time nobody would say what it was. Both witnesses found it strange that this story got covered up.

Side Note 1 - This Sighting took place just South of one of the first sightings I looked into, near Osmotherley.

Side Note 2 - Biggest Wildlife that roams the North Yorkshire Moors National Park seems to be Deer and Cattle/Game animals.

Side Note 3 - Farmers in the nearby areas seem to have some of their cattle go missing, yet to them it is like no big deal. The Eyewitnesses went on to talk to farmers about their missing cattle, though this seemed to anger and annoy the farmers which suggests maybe the farmers know more than they are letting on.

Harriseahead, Staffordshire Dogman Report - 2014

This Dogman Encounter took place only a couple of months ago back in 2014, this time it was Karen's Brother In Law who had seen something that he would simply not forget. He went out to some local fields one night to shoot rabbits as he had done many times before. On this night he had with him a pellet gun which had an night scope attachment on it. Though he found it weird as he could not see one single rabbit around, it was a good clear night and as in the past had expected to have seen a few about the area.

He automatically assumed to begin with that there must have been a fox in the area so using his scope he scounted the area surrounding him. As he looked past a hedgerow, he saw what he describes as a pair of red eyes looking back at him. He had lowered his scope for a second just to make sure it wasn't his eyes and then looked straight back through again, unaware of what he was going to see.

There was something there, something that had stood up, standing upright at the hedge but just a bit above it, looking right at the guy. He kept looking at it wondering what this creature was but convinced himself that it must have been a cow or even a horse. Then he witnessed this thing whatever it was go down on all fours, knowing now that originally this thing was on it's hind legs. He saw the creature run off on all fours acorss the field at a fair pace towards an old mine.

He said said this was no dog, horse or cow, in fact he has no idea what it was period. Karen stated that her two nieces aged 20, & 21 confirmed to her that he came home much earlier thn he intended, really shakened up and scared. He said that he wasn't going to stay down there especially when all he had was a pellet gun, to this day he hasn't been back to the location since and he won't go out shooting alone at night anymore.

This experience really scared him to the core, it took place in Harriseahead (near to Mow Cop) Staffordshire.

Karen's Dogman Experience - Acres Nook Area

Karen had her very own personal encounter with what she believes was a Dogman, her experience took place in an area called Acres Nook near to Kidsgrove Staffordshire. Harriseahead and Acres Nook are about 4 miles apart from each other.

Her account below is exactly Quoted from the message I recieved from her last night 03/01/2015

"I was about 13 at the time so around 1983/84. Me and my friend were walking to our youth club that was just over a mile away from our homes, it was about 6.30 in the evening towards the end of November. It was a dry clear windless night. A few weeks earlier we had watched the film An American Werewolf in London and all I can say is the howling that the werewolf makes in the underground just before it attacks the man, well I heard that very same howl that night. At first it was just me that heard it, it sounded quite a way off, not close or anything. I remember feeling really uncomfortable and the hair on the back of my neck was standing up. I asked my friend if she had heard anything and she said heard what. I shrugged it off as just being my imagination especially because of the film. We carried on walking but I had stopped talking and was listening for any more noises. I didn't have to wait long, I heard it again only closer. I looked at my friend and said you must have heard that, she had. We both stopped talking and walked quicker, by now the path we were on had woods either side of it and we were about 400yards from where the main road began, the road we were on was a quiet country lane that was single track in places. We both then heard the howl again but this time much closer, I was terrified, my friend suggested walking faster and I said no, we better run. We sprinted the whole length of that path as fast as we could all the while hearing the howling and it was getting closer. By the time we reached the main road whatever was howling sounded like it was right behind us, we didn't stop running til we got to the youth club. We never walked to the youth club again. I never saw anything and it was no dog or fox. I am convinced it was a dogman especially since Vic said they are over here too, I never knew they were."

Mysterious Wolf Beast Spotted at Cannock Chase

This was posted back in Jan. 2010

Jane McNally recently had a run-in with a mysterious creature while out walking with her partner on Cannock Chase.

“I was walking with my partner and his dog,” Jane said.

“We put the dog back on the lead as we thought in the distance there was an enormous ‘dog.’ As we approached the animal we realized this wasn’t a dog and it just stared at us for a while – I said I thought it looked like a fox, but the size of a lioness – it then turned into the wooded area, and we proceeded to walk on.

“As it turned its long, bushy black tipped tail, we realized it was definitely not a dog.

“I have just logged onto the net and went onto images of wolves, and can honestly say whatever we saw yesterday was the closet thing to a wolf.”
